What about sand smuggling in Johor — The Malaysian Insider

July 14, 2010JULY 14 — The Selangor state government must take action to stop all illegal sand mining activities in the state. No ifs. No buts.
It does not matter that the illegal activities started during the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) administration.
But the hypocrisy of the attacks against the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat (PR) government cannot be ignored.
Why is Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin silent on illegal sand smuggling operations in Johor?
Illegal sand mining and smuggling actvities in Johor were recently highlighted by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as well as by The Star.
According to a report in The Star the Johor state government is losing RM40 million a month due to illegal sand mining.
By all means go after the crooks in Selangor but don’t be shy about exposing the powerful and well connected sources behind sand smuggling in Johor.
What Najib and company have to realise is that while most Malaysians want wrongs to be exposed, they value fair-mindedness and just behaviour more.
What they disdain is hypocrisy.
